First, assemble each moat by inserting the included "H" alignment and locking clip into either the top or bottom section. For additional security, place one or two drops of super glue (optional) between the mating surfaces, align the top and bottom, and snap the two halves firmly together. Fill each moat through the top fill hole with any grade of motor oil, then position one moat beneath each corner of the hive bottom board with the fill hole facing upward and concealed beneath the hive. Once installed, the oil remains protected under the hood while providing a continuous ant barrier around your colony. Some assembly is required.
