You can also lay in bed or stand up too - Whatever suits you :-) The vesa mount is there to hold your handy2 but is also there to shield you from the pointy ends of vesa mounting plates - This can be handy if you decide to mount your monitor arm below a desk for example for a stealth and functionally discrete set up, where if you had not shielded the vesa mounting plate, you could bang your knee or leg into it when sitting at your desk and wheeling your way in under or swiveling to it. An adjustable height desk can be useful for this vesa mount too - Desk clamping or screwing down to a side and close enough to you to allow the arm to swing out towards you for use can be a neat set up too.
