MoatGuard™ Bee Hive Ant Moat System starter pack (4 Moats) Help deter ants and other crawling insects naturally with the MoatGuard™ Bee Hive Ant Moat System. MoatGuard™ creates a liquid barrier around the support points of your hive, making it more difficult for crawling insects to reach your colonies—without pesticides or harsh chemicals. MoatGuard™ is an expandable system that grows with your apiary and can also be used to help deter crawling insects from raised planters, bird feeders, chicken feeders, pet feeding stations, and other outdoor items supported on a stable platform. Expandable System This listing includes one set containing two (2) MoatGuard™ Ant Moats. Important: A complete hive installation requires four moats (two sets). Single Hive: Place one moat beneath each corner of the hive stand or support platform. Two Hives: Place two 2x4 support rails across four moats and center each hive over two moats. Additional Hives: Add one additional set (2 moats) for every two additional hives sharing the same support rails. How It Works Place each moat on a firm, level surface. Position the hive stand, support rails, or platform over the moats. Secure the moats if desired using one screw per moat (not included). Fill each moat with water, vegetable oil, or another eco-friendly liquid. Do not use poisons or toxic chemicals. For Best Results Every support point should rest on its own moat. Remove any alternate paths such as tree branches, vines, tall grass, weeds, or objects touching the protected item. Check and refill the liquid as needed.
